Project:
Construction of 200 Low Cost Houses in Al-Shahama, The
client is
Works Department. (Total Cost over 190
millions
Dhs).
There were five Nos. of contractors for the construction of
buildings.
The Low Cost Houses project started parallel with road and
utilities projects separating in additional two contracts.
Position: Project
Manager
Responsibilities:
·
Managing the site staff (consist of five Resident engineers,
electro- mechanical engineer, inspectors, surveyors) for
efficient running and functioning the project and to insure
that works is performed in accordance with safety standards,
project specification and schedule.
·
Supervising the construction, checking and approval of the
materials. Quality control, and contractor’s payment
certificates and progress reports. Approval of shop drawing,
method statements etc.
·
Liaison and co-ordination with Public Authorities,
consultants and contractors to attaining projects objectives
(the internal roads, service utilities and building
constructions) at agreed time frame.
·
Dealing with the Client (Project Engineer) to handle and
resolve issues (technical and practical) related to the work
and coordination with Design office.
·
Liaising with the Client, Review the contractor’s claims for
extension of time and payments for variation order, cost and
contractual matters, Review the contractor program of work
and it implementation on site.

millions Dhs).
Position:
Resident Engineer
Responsibilities:
·
Supervising the construction activities, approval of
materials, review and checking contractor submissions and
shop/as- built drawing, method statement, managing the site
staff (inspectors, surveyors). Quality control on site,
measurement of quantities for interim valuations, and
payment certificates. Monitoring the progress reports and
charts.
·
Dealing and follow-up with the Client (project engineer) and
Local Authorities to resolve matters (technical and
practical)
related to the construction of works.
Position: Structural
Design Engineer
Responsibilities:
A)
Concrete Design
to BS 8110
for a number of multi-storey buildings and private
villas, complex villas, underground water tanks, swimming
pools and retaining walls.
B)
Steel Design to
BS 5950 (guide The Steel Construction Institute) for
a number of steel constructions:
·
Design of multi-portal industrial construction (75x60x16m)
for the factory of (RC prefabricated lightweight wall
system), with overhead traveling crane, full detailed
drawing.
·
Warehouses, elevated water tanks, and extension roof floors,
composite floor slabs with portal frame (Port Zayed, etc…),
decking floor slabs for a number of mezzanines.
C)
Following the preparation of detailed structural,
architectural and workshop drawings, contract documents,
bills of quantities, method of statements for work
execution, analyzing program of work activities and
technical reports.
D)
Supervision of piling operations, tests, various
construction stages.
E)
Dealing with structural problems and resolving matters
arising during the construction stages on site.
F)
Liaise and co-ordinate all activities with the Client,
Public Authorities.
